MOM’S REQUEST – SHANGHAI ROLL
This is what I Cooked for lunch. SHANGHAI ROLL …it was my mom who requested this. She asked me if I could prepare shanghai for our lunch and I said yes. She thank me for that because after I answered her Yes, she told me that she was craving for it and that’s the reason why she bought a recipe for shanghai when she went to the market.
Hey guys! Would you believe if I tell you that whenever I prepare a dish, just like shanghai, after putting all the ingredients I will just smell it and that’s it! I know already if it will taste good already. I don’t know if you will believe what I’ve said. But that’s what I’m doing even my mom knows that. At first she just laughed at me but in the end she was amazed with my techniques in cooking. Ok enough for my little secrets! Ahaha…maybe I’ll reveal my other secrets with my next posts! ^_^
Ingredients for Shanghai Roll:
- ground meat
- onions (chopped)
- carrots (chopped)
- celery
- salt
- pepper
- vetsin
- egg
- spring roll wrappers
Procedures:
- Mix all the ingredients in a bowl except for the wrappers. Season with a little bit of salt and pepper and mix well. You can do a sampling at this point by taking a bit of the mixture and forming it into a small patty and frying it in oil. Just to test if it needs adjustment in seasoning.
- Start rolling up. Brush the top end of your wrapper with a little bit of water to seal the lumpia.
- all wrapped up. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry your lumpia for about 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Pull out and let excess oil drip over a strainer or paper towel. Serve the Lumpiang Shanghai – Filipino Spring Rolls with your favorite sweet and sour sauce or ketchup.
